Instant Braised Red Cabbage, Apples & Sausage



A delicious sweet & sour, sausage optional, vegetable side dish, Instant Pot has made cooking this hearty dish go from hours to minutes.


Ingredients:

1 head organic red cabbage – cored, quartered, and chopped

½ pound organic breakfast sausage, ground (optional)

3 Tbsp ghee

1 Spanish onion

1 tsp sea salt

¼ tsp white pepper

½ tsp allspice

1 tsp caraway seeds

2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar

1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 Tbsp brown sugar

2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and quartered

½ cup chicken or veggie broth


Sauté Function. Brown sausage, add ghee and onion and sauté ‘til tender. Add cabbage, sauté and toss to break up leaves. Add salt, pepper, and spices. Stir well. Add vinegar & sugar. Stir. Toss in apples. Add broth. Cancel Sauté.


Cook 5 minutes high pressure. Quick release 5 minutes.
